MORE THAN MATERIALS: LESSONS FROM WORKING ON JAPANESE PROJECTS

After working on multiple projects with Japanese clients, we learned that materials alone are never the whole story. Success depends on precision, consistency, and how well we adapt to expectations.

One recurring challenge was formaldehyde emission standards. While F4S-grade panels were preferred, they often required strict MOQs. Through close collaboration, we proposed EPA-standard panels as a practical alternative that balanced compliance with project feasibility.

Material selection was always performance-driven. HPL for high-wear surfaces, LPL for cost optimization, and color consistency across finishes treated as technical requirements, not preferences.
Design coordination, mock-up reviews, and thorough inspections reinforced a clear lesson: working with Japanese clients is about process, communication, and thoughtful adaptation - not just materials.
